English Department Holds Its 2nd National Symposium

In the presence of the UoR’s Director General of the Research Center, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal A. Omer, as well as Dean of UoR’s College of Education, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hawraz Q. Hama, the second national symposium of the English Department/Qaladiza campus, was held entitled ‘Towards Preparing More Professional Teachers’, on Apr 28th, 2024, under the sponsorship of FAM educational foundation.
The event was launched by the UoR’s presidency speech, given by Asst. Prof. Dr. Jamal A. Omer, which was followed by the deanery speech of Asst. Prof. Dr. Hawraz Q. Hamad.
The symposium was divided into two sessions; the first was coordinated by Dr. Saman M. Othman, while the second was coordinated by Asst. Lect. Saman B. Watman, during both the bellow seminars were presented:
– ‘Teaching in the 21st Century: Challenges and Opportunities’, by Prof. Dr. Himdad A. Muhammad, Salahaddin University
– ‘Empowering Learning and Enhancing Skills Through Effective Error Corrections’, by Dr. Tazhan K. Omer, University of Sulaimani
– ‘Cultivating a Positive Mindset for University Educators’, by Asst. Lect. Kako M. Yousif, Soran University
– ‘The Integration of Multimodal Practices into English Language Teaching and Teacher Education Programs: Challenges and Suggestions’, by Lect. Hameed H. Hamasaid, University of Halabja
– ‘The Linguistic Landscape in Iraqi Kurdistan: An Emphasis on the English Language Education Policy’, by Dr. Maman Yasen M. Amin, Cihan University Sulaimaniya
– ‘Classroom Management of Pre-Service Teachers: Challenges and Strategies’, by Asst. Prof, Hawkar Omar All, Koye university
– ‘Teaching English Literature in the Digital Era’, Asst. lect. Hema A. Hamza, University of Raparin
The even ended with closing remarks and recommendations from the participants as well as a Q&A session from the audience.
